What we are about...
We are a non-profit organization called 2012 Kids, Inc., and our mission is to enrich the lives of the
children and families in our community through fostering creativity, zeal for art, and respect for nature
and all living beings. In all that we do, our number one goal is to create a happy, compassionate, and
nurturing environment where children and their parents feel loved and respected and part of a bigger
family. Everyone who comes to one of our classes is part of our family and we have really enjoyed
watching our children grow and learn together.
There are many things that our children are expected to learn, basically as soon as they begin walking
and talking. It is our philosophy, which is based on our own knowledge and experience as well as
numerous studies conducted around the world, that children under the age of six should be encouraged
to express themselves creatively without restriction (other than safety) and spend as much time as
possible in nature. Before the age of seven, children are predominately right-brained. Though they are
capable of learning how to read and write and perform mathematical computations, they are naturally
predisposed at this time of development for creating- whether art, music, games, storytelling, etc...In
fact, studies are showing that children who are lacking in exposure to these types of right-brain
strengthening experiences and who spend little time exploring the natural world are the children who
are being diagnosed with (and medicated for) ADHD, depression, and other behavioral disorders.
It is not enough that we educate ourselves about these issues that are affecting our children. We have
to do what we can to incite change. We began facilitating these art classes so that we could make a
difference. We have been doing this for over two years and have been contacted by people from almost
every continent, praising us for our endeavors and asking us to visit their countries and start programs
there. One day we will do just that! But for now, we are delighted to reach out to our families here
and share what we have learned.
We never turn any child away for lack of funds. We have given numerous scholarships and will always
continue to do so as long as we are able. If you like what we are doing and want to help, please
consider making a donation. We also welcome donations of art supplies and volunteers. And please,
help us to spread the word! Less money spent on advertising means more children get to paint, sculpt,
or come to preschool.
Thank you to our wonderful parents who have supported us and to all those who have reached out and
written a kind word! We love and honor each and every one of you!
Nothing is more important than our children. They truly are our most precious resource. We love
children and we love what we do. Come for a visit and experience something truly beautiful and
unique!
In love and gratitude,
The 2012 Kids Family
